Price List 2006 - Dammusi and Private Apartments - Dammusi of Bukkuram - Dammusi of Khamma
The island of Pantelleria inside of it’s surrounded by the sea, is characterized by a strong agricultural tradition and dammusi with its vineyards and its olive-groves, which are the most evident expression.
Dammusi, original or rebuilt following a style, are the rural houses of the island; they are characterized by roof with a dome, useful to gather the rain and keep, during the summer, the structure in comfortable conditions of fresh and, during the winter, in conditions of hot. The dark volcanic stones are the main element pf these typical buildings and are also used to create “giardini”: small towers that protect the plants from the wind. The wind is the king so that Arabic people called the island Bent el Rhion (daughter of the wind).
Considering the conformation of the country a dammuso next to the sea or with a view at the sea can be connected to the beach by a street long some kilometres. To allow you moving through the inlets and to buy provisions, we suggest you to rent a car or a motorbike.
A suggestion: don’t be so hardheaded to ask for a dammuso on the sea. The most beautiful are in the hinterland.
